Peter C. Hanley, MD, FACC, FACCP
Peter C. Hanley, MD, FACC, FACCP, a Rhodes Scholar, joined Lutheran Medical Group in May 1990 after working three years as a staff cardiologist at the Oschner Health Center in Baton Rouge, La.
A Jamaica scholar, Dr. Hanley graduated from the University of the West Indies with an undergraduate degree in special physics. As a University of the West Indies postgraduate scholar, he studied for a Ph.D. in physics and information science at the University of California, San Diego. He later taught physics at the University of the West Indies.
In 1972, Dr. Hanley was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to study physiology and medicine at Oxford University in Oxford, England. While at Oxford, he performed general medicine and surgery house officer and senior house officer rotations. Dr. Hanley then completed an internal medicine residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., followed by a cardiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
Dr. Hanley is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. He is also board certified in obesity medicine and clinical lipidology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is a clinical associate professor of medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Fort Wayne Center for Medical Education. An often-requested speaker, Dr. Hanley is well-published in the areas of general and invasive cardiology.
